Dutch Boy's 2018 Color of the Year Is a Popular "Greige" Hue. Paint brand Dutch Boy just announced their 2018 Color of the Year and it's (drumroll, please) Sandstone Tint (441-2DB). This "greige" — a.k.a. a blend of gray and beige — is a departure from the bold hues we've seen from other predictions this past year. According to the company, it's "a hue that nods to the simplicity of the past, while also making a modern, color-confident statement that looks to the future." This shade is part of Dutch Boy's "Quest" palette, which features earth tones that are "as classic as they are sophisticated."

Blame Pinterest, blame Joanna Gaines, blame marble madness overload — but concrete countertops have taken over farmhouses in the past few years. It's easy to see why: Installing concrete counters is a sure way to infuse your home with a rustic yet industrial feel that's at once trendy and unfussy. And the durability of the cement-and-sand mix has some hailing it as a rock solid (we had to) design choice. But after testing them out, other homeowners have voiced some serious concerns which made us wonder: Is concrete all it's cracked up to be? Here are some of the drawbacks we've seen mentioned.
This Black and White Bathroom Is a Geometric Showstopper. This Chicago homeowner thought she wanted a white bathroom, but one photo changed her mind. That picture was the elegant black-and-white Bath of the Month in House Beautiful’s June 2016 issue, and when she saw it, she immediately grabbed the phone and called its designer, SuzAnn Kletzien. “That project gave her the courage to go beyond basic white — she was immediately drawn to the contrasting hues,” Kletzien says. Never one to replay a look, the designer stuck to that alluring palette but mixed classical elements, like picture-frame trim on the walls, mirrors, and glass doors, with statement-making flooring and dining room–worthy lighting that will inspire your next renovation.
